I took the bus to school every day when I was in grade school. Alvin, our bus driver, came by every morning at 8:00 to 1 us children from poor families up.
Alvin picked up around twenty 2 in our area and dropped us off after school. About once a month he would make a 3 at the local drive-in. Someone would come out and ask each of us if we wanted an ice cream or a drink. Alvin would 4 the whole bus out of his own pocket. The kindness that he showed was 5.
I remember him picking us up at theend of the school year and taking us to his home for a party. He would 6 drinks and chips for everyone.
Remembering the kindness he showed, I called him up twenty years 7 and thanked him. I told him that he probably wouldn't remember 8, but I sure remembered him! We didn't see much kindness from others as we grew up, so it made it all the more 9.
I could hear the smile in his voice when he thanked me for calling. He's the reason why I do my 10 to show kindness to everyone whom I cross paths with. He's had such ahuge impact in my life and I'm so thankful that I was able to tell him.
Mr. Brown's son called him from No.1 Middle School last night. His son didn't feel well. He drove to the school withhis wife at once and took his son to see the doctor. The doctor took his son'stemperature. It was nearly 39℃. Then thedoctor gave him some medicine.

For many years, we couldn't talk with the deaf. These deaf people couldn't use a spoken language.
But beginning in the 1700s, the deaf were taught a special language. Using this language, they could share thought sand ideas with others. The language they used was a language without sound. It was a sign language.
How did this sign language work? The deaf learnt to make certain movements with their hands, faces and bodies. These movements stood for things and ideas. People might move their forefingers accross their lips. This meant "you are not telling the truth". They might tap their chin with three fingers. This meant "my uncle".
The deaf learned to see a finger alphabet. They used their fingers to make the letters of the alphabet. In this way, they spelled out words. Some deaf people could spell out words at a speed of 130 words per minute.
The deaf don't use the sign language andfinger spelling as much as they once were. Today, the deaf learn to understand others by watching their lips. They also learn how to speak.
