—Never mind. I here for only a few minutes.
A wealthy man loved his son very much. As he wanted his son to lead a happy life, he decided to send him to see a wise old man for his advice on happiness.
When the old man learnt about his 1 , he handed the boy an empty bowl and said, "Go to the river miles away and 2 it with water. I will tell you about it 3 no water is spilt (洒) when you reach here. "Although the boy was very surprised at this, he had no choice but to 4 this task.
The boy 5 on foot for the river and some time later came back with a bowl of water. The old man asked him, "Did you notice the beautiful flowers along the road and the birds singing in the trees?" The boy could say nothing about them because he gave his 6attention to the bowl in his hands.
The old man smiled and said, "Bring me 7 bowl of water, but this time enjoy the flowers and the singing of birds as well."
When he returned, the boy was able to 8 everything he had seen to the old man. But when he looked down at his bowl, he found 9that most water was gone. He forgot all about his bowl while enjoying the beautiful things along the road.
"Well, young man," the old man said. "Enjoy the beauty of the world, but never forget the water in your bowl. This is the 10 of happiness. "
All around the world, people drink tea. But tea does not mean the same thing to everyone. In different countries people have very different ideas about drinking tea.
In China, for example, tea is always served when people are getting together. The Chinese drink it at any time of the day, at homes or in teahouses. They prefer their tea plain with nothing else in it.
Tea is also important in Japan. The Japanese have a special way of serving tea called the tea ceremony. It is very old and full of meaning. Everything must be done in a special way in the ceremony. There is even a special room for it in the Japanese' homes.
Another tea-drinking country is England. In England, the late afternoon is "tea-time". Almost everyone has a cup of tea then. The English usually make tea in a tea-pot and drink it with milk and sugar. They also eat cakes, cookies and little sandwiches at teatime. This is so-called "Afternoon Tea" in Britain.
Chinese buyers used to prize foreign brands, thinking that products made by American or European companies are of higher quality(质量) than Chinese ones. Increasingly, that's no longer the case.
Chinese people born before 1985 generally think that foreign brands are better than Chinese ones, billionaire William Li told Business Insider during a recent interview on CCTV 9. But for those who were born after 1985, it is a different picture.
"When I first went to the United Kingdom in 1997, I thought that the difference between China and Europe was quite big," Li said. "But for those born in the 1990s, when they visit Europe or the US, they do not think there is a big difference."
The change in thinking among Chinese buyers is showing up in many markets in China where Western companies used to control. A study by Credit Suisse published in March found that young Chinese buyers are increasingly showing a "home brand bias".
More than 90% of young Chinese buyers would prefer to buy home appliance brands, according to the study. Meanwhile, home companies producing food, drinks, or personal care products increased their share of the market by 3.3% over the last ten years to nearly 70%.
"Chinese buyers, especially the younger ones, don't just believe that foreign brands are better. Right now, Chinese buyers think China is good and ' Made in China' is not bad at all," Charlie Chen, head of China buyer research at Credit Suisse, told South China Morning Post in March.
The Chinese smartphone market is controlled by home companies--Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi. Apple is the only foreign brand in the top five, but it has lost large ground to the home brands in recent years. Its market share is believed to be down to 37% from a 2015 high of 54%.
At two o'clock a bank robber(抢劫犯) stole in. "This is a hold-up," the man said loudly. He took a gun from under his jacket, pointing to George. "Hand it over!" George reached into his money-box and took all the bills from the top part--close to six thousand dollars. The robber took them and turned to leave. Then, while everyone watched the robber, George calmly lifted the top part of the money-box, took bills from the bottom part and put them into his own pocket secretly. The door was shut and the bank robber was gone. George fainted(晕倒). As soon as he was safe behind his bedroom door, George counted the money. He had eight thousand dollars, lie was very happy.
The next morning, while the others were checking the bank's records, George was asked to go to Mr. Burrow's office and was introduced to Mr. Carruthers, who used to be president of the bank.
"Good morning, George, I was sorry to give you a hard time yesterday, but with all the banks being robbed these days I thought it would be a good idea to prove that our small bank can be robbed, too. I have retired, but I am always thinking of our bank. That's why I played my little game yesterday, just to keep everyone on his toes. Now, I have put the money back in your money-box—all six thousand. "
No one knows when the first kite was made. The first record of a kite was more than 2,000 years ago in China. Hart Xin, the leader of an army, wanted to bring down a king. He decided to dig a tunnel(隧道) into the king's palace. He flew a kite over the wall of the palace to make sure the length (长度) of its string (线). In this way, he could determine how long the tunnel should be. His men in the tunnel took the kite string with them. When they reached the end of the string, they knew to dig up.
Kites have been flown in Japan for hundreds of years. In the 1700s, kites were flown in autumn to give thanks for a good harvest. They were also flown to send good wishes to couples who had their first son. Today in Japan, kites are often flown as part of a celebration, such as the beginning of a new year. And kite festivals are held each year in many parts of the country.
Kites have been used for scientific purposes in the Western world. In 1752, Benjamin Franklin tied a key to a kite and flew it in a storm to find out that lightning was a form of electricity. In the 1890s, Lawrence Hargrave invented the box kite to test ideas about flight. From 1898 until 1933, the United States Weather Bureau (气象局) used box kites to collect weather data. The Wright brothers also experimented (试验) with kites. What they learnt helped them make the first airplane flight in 1903.

properly courage years by speaking everyone met invited never possible |
Around four years ago, I received a call from the headmaster of my son's school. He asked me to speak to a group the next morning. After the call, I became afraid. The time from his call to the next morning seemed like . The whole night, I could not sleep well. Many times, I wanted to call the headmaster with regret and tell him that I could not .come. Finally, I had some . I thought, "If I miss this chance, surely the school will invite me again to any of their programmes. "
The next morning, I reached the school on time. Before my turn came, my whole body was shaking with fear. When my turn came and I started , my heartbeat increased and my mouth went dry! I wasn't even able to read my paper . I didn't know where I was standing and what I was reading. That was the day when I realised what my biggest weakness was, Public Speaking.
After my speech, I with the headmaster and explained what happened to me. He told me that this happened to . Even great speakers faced the same things when they started. He suggested that I come again next time.
Around one month later, I was to give a talk again. This time I was feeling comfortable. My speech was appreciated (赏识) both the headmaster and the teachers. They praised my efforts a lot.
After that, I became more confident when giving speeches. I learned that everything is if we have the courage to take the first step.
