Last night I didn't feel well. I thought I had a 1. This morning, I didn't want to eat anything. So I 2. After the doctor looked me over carefully, he gave me some 3 and told me it was nothing serious but I had to 4 in bed for a day. But I 5 my lessons in the school and I wanted to tell my teacher about it. So I wrote a note (便条)for a day 6 and asked my sister to take it to the teacher. It was time to have 7. I felt a little 8 but I only had some noodles. In the evening,I felt much better. I thought I should 9 the text that I should learn today.10 I sat on the sofa and read for an hour. I really want to go to school tomorrow.
Do you know growing pains(疼痛)?Growing pains aren't a disease. Sometimes you don't have to see a doctor. Usually children can get them between the ages of 3 and 5 or 8 and 12. When children are over fifteen, most of them don't get growing pains. Children often get growing pains in their legs. They often start before bedtime and sometimes in the middle of the night. But they go away by the morning. Doctors don't know why. They think when children run, climb or jump a lot during the day, they may have pains in their legs at night.
Parents can help children feel better by buying some medicine. But it is not good for children. Here are some ways that may help children feel better:
Put a piece of warm cloth on the place where children feel painful.
Ask children to stretch(伸展) the legs like what they do in P. E. class.
Ask somebody to help massage(按摩) the painful legs.
Mr. Jenkins liked all kinds of delicious food. As an important officer, he was often asked to dinner. The shopkeepers tried their best to fawn on him. They knew it was good for their business. Now the officer got fatter and fatter. He could hardly go upstairs at home and had to sleep downstairs.
He often felt tired if he walked or did some housework. He was worried about it and had to go to a doctor." Stop eating much fat(脂肪) and sugar, Mr. Jenkins," said the doctor." Or it will be worse for your health!" It was difficult for the officer to do it. He wouldn't do as the doctor said. He found something was wrong with his heart a few months later. Now he thought the doctor was right. And he had to be in hospital.
"You must lose weight(减肥), sir," said the doctor," unless you want to die soon!" "Could you tell me a way to lose weight, please?" "You must do some exercise first." "What exercise?" "To move your head from side to side when you are invited to dinner!"
Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.
This is an old English saying. Have you heard of it before?I mean that we must go to bed early and get up early in the morning. Then we shall be healthy. We shall also be rich (wealthy) and clever (wise).
This is true. The body must have enough sleep to be healthy. Children of young age should have ten hours' sleep every night. Children who do not have enough sleep cannot do their work very well. They will not be wise and they may not become wealthy!
The body also needs exercise. Walking, running, jumping, swimming and playing games are all exercise. Exercise keeps the body strong.
Exercise also helps the blood(血液) to move around inside the body. This is very important. Our blood takes food to all parts of our body. The head also needs blood. Exercise helps us to think better!
You are so tired at night, but you can't sleep. Here are some good ideas.
First, you should be in a quiet room. That's important. You should put your feet in some warm water before you go to bed, and that's a traditional way. You should have a glass of milk. It's good for sleeping. You should think you are in a beautiful place. It's very quiet here, and there are many trees and you walk slowly. That sounds like a good idea. It can help you sleep soon.
Sleeping is important to our health. Don't be worried. Go to bed early, eat more vegetables and do some exercise. And everyone will have a good sleep at night.
