My daughter Molly was eight. She was1to try new things. She felt comfortable and could talk freely to her good friends, but it was hard for2to be like that when she was not in the comfort zone*.
This term, surprisingly*, she said she wanted to join her school3team. The team had a try-out* every year to pick the best members. To help her, our family always exercised with her on weekends. When the day of the try-out came, we all4in the dark of the morning to cheer her. On the way to school, we5a lot of things she would need and kept talking with her. She looked good. But when we waited two hours for other kids to finish6her turn*, she held my hand tightly. It was not difficult to find she was nervous* but tried not to show it.
It was a long time to wait.7, it was her turn. She stood there with hands shaking. I saw this and started to8about her. To my surprise, she ran so fast that she became the first one to finish the race.
I9felt so proud* of someone in my life. It wasn't because she won or did anything like that. It was because she was afraid of something but she made it at last. All day I just looked at her and smiled. I wasn't the winner myself10I felt like I won that day. I won the chance to see the change of my daughter Molly.
Book name: The Little Prince Customer reviews Little Prince Type: Children's book Price: $7.79 Age Level: Age 10-13 Paperback: 112 pages Writer: Antoine de Saint-Exupery Language: English translation* Some of the customer reviews: Lily Morgan: The Little Prince is one of my most favourite books. My husband and kids read it too. So I bought five of this book as birthday gifts for them. I only give 2 stars because the pictures in the book are black and white. I hope they could be colorful so they won't look boring. |
Alan Rooney: Although it is a children's book, I still love it every time when I read it. It tells me to slow down in a fast life and enjoy myself. The book is good, but the translation is not. |
Luke Shaw: I love reading this book again as an adult. Everyone should have and read this book. It is a good story about a prince and his rose. My students love it the same. We always talk about how warm the prince is. |
Do you want a pet but don't have much time to look after it? Then, Aibo might be a good choice for you. Aibo is a robot dog made by the company Sony.
It is like a real dog in many ways. It can understand different words*, such as "sit", "stay", and "come". It can also stand up, shake your hand and play a ball. Aibo can move its ears, open its mouth and even close and open its eyes. There are sensors* on Aibo's head and body. When you play with it, it will enjoy your touch like a real pet.
Being able to "learn" makes Aibo more popular with people. The robot can remember what it sees, hears and does every day. This helps it build a database* to "grow". For example, it can learn what actions* make you happy and will try them the next time. It also has two cameras to help it find family members and "map" your home. After you keep it for a long time, Aibo can even have its personality*.
You can also get an app "My Aibo" on your phone and use it to check pictures Aibo takes with its cameras or get more tricks for your Aibo dog in its Aibo Store. You'll always have new things to try. Make riends with Aibo and you can enjoy your life with the cute and lovely robot dog.
I was not a lucky child. When I was 3 years old, my parents found I was deaf*.
They talked with many doctors but it didn't help. They wanted me to live like other kids. From the third grade, they put me in a school far from home where all of my classmates had normal* hearing. So I was the only deaf child there. From the first day, the other kids often laughed at me and called me names because of my hearing aid*. I didn't like my new school. My problem was not only from classmates. I also had trouble with most of my schoolwork.
One morning, in her math class, Mrs. Jordan asked us a question. She was. a strict woman with a voice that went through the walls of her little classroom, and you could even hear it out of the classroom.
I read her lips* hard and got an answer. Maybe that was the right one! I raised up my hand and heard Mrs. Jordan call out my name. I stood up, but became afraid again. I could even hear the laugh from some of my classmates. Nervously I answered her question, I would never forget what happened next.
Mrs. Jordan smiled at me and said, "THAT'S RIGHT, STEPHEN!"
For the first time, I became a star. I was so excited! The three words changed my life. From that day I told myself that I would make a place in this world. It would be difficult and hard, but I knew I could make it, just like answering the question in class.

b. Mrs. Jordan said three words to me.
c. Mrs. Jordan asked a question in class.
d. I moved to a new school in the third grade.
